What Vuelo Is Tracking (...and Thinks You Should Be Too)

HVAC Industry – Environmentally Friendly Shift

In short: In 2024, many leading HVAC manufacturers began phasing out the use of older refrigerants due to environmental concerns. However, starting in 2025, all companies nationally are required to manufacture new air conditioning and heat pump systems that use more environmentally friendly refrigerants in order to meet industry environmental standards.

What this Means to You: Starting in 2025:

  • Parts for older HVAC equipment may be harder to come by
  • Repair/replacement costs will go up marginally to meet the new requirements
  • The supply of new equipment that meets new requirements will be limited initially, until suppliers can catch up.

Stats We're Watching

Like many investors, we're watching the Fed with binoculars (...or, more accurately, a microscope).

Another 25 basis point rate cut in December is continued good news as we come off the peak, with additional rate cuts in 2025 to be evaluated at bi-monthly Federal Reserve meetings.

Vuelo's Takeaway: A series of modest rate cuts have been a breath of fresh air over the last few months of 2024. However, economic resiliency paired with proposed policy changes affecting trade/tariffs, immigration, regulation and tax policy put a giant question mark on the Fed’s enthusiasm for continued rate cuts into 2025. Barring unforeseen factors, we don’t see interest rates changing materially into 2025.

What this means to you... If a project doesn't pencil now due to interest rates, it likely will not pencil in 2025.

Who Not How: The Formula to Achieve Bigger Goals Through Accelerating Teamwork, by Dan Sullivan

Who Not How, by Dan Sullivan, challenges the traditional mindset of tackling problems by figuring out how to accomplish goals. Instead, the book emphasizes finding the right who—people with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to collaborate and help you succeed. By leveraging others’ abilities, you can unlock greater results, achieve bigger goals, and free up time to focus on what you do best.

Vuelo's Takeaway: We often try to tackle challenges alone, limiting our capacity to grow and innovate. Who Not How reminds us that success isn’t just about individual effort but about collaboration and delegation. Identifying the right people—your ‘Whos’—is key to overcoming obstacles, achieving greater efficiency, and driving results together.
